Dr. Acevedo was born in New York City and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University. She first discovered her love for animals with her own lovebird, Peachy (who lived to the age of 21 years old!). Her love further developed while studying ruminant and wildlife medicine at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and working as a zookeeper for four years at the Turtleback Zoo in West Orange, NJ. Besides wildlife and exotics, Dr. Acevedo has a strong passion for Fear Free handling practices, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and advocating for diversity and inclusion in the veterinary and outdoor community.

While not at Bend Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Acevedo works part time as a veterinarian at the Humane Society of Central Oregon as well as the veterinarian at Think Wild Wildlife Hospital and Conservation Center. In her free time, she can be found exploring the west coast through hiking, rock climbing, eating, and exploring local microbreweries. She lives with her (fat) cat Gizmo and her mud turtle, Lentil and looks forward to taking care of any and all of your pets that can (or can’t) fit through our front door!
